PRETÉRITO IMPERFECTO

Al narrar historias pasadas, se usa el pretérito imperfecto para referirse a situaciones y a hábitos.
Los hábitos pueden ser expresados en forma aislada: Yo iba al Colegio Nacional 3, en tanto que las situaciones sirven de marco para la narración de eventos y por lo tanto no pueden aparecer solas en el discurso.

No es lo mismo decir El amor entre Camila y el padre Ladislao fue un amor prohibido que decir El amor entre Camila y el padre Ladislao era un amor prohibido. La segunda expresión supone que algo más voy a decir, por ejemplo que “por eso los fusilaron”. Si digo: Trabajé en un diario, alcanza esa información. En cambio si digo Trabajaba en un diario, aunque el período sea coincidente, será para situar o bien un hecho (cuando estalló la guerra) o bien alguna acción simultánea (y hacía colaboraciones para algunas revistas).

Los tiempos imperfectos no indican ni el comienzo ni el fin de una acción o estado, sino el transcurso.

Verbos regulares

Verbos irregulares: “ser”, “ir” y “ver”

1.  El pretérito Imperfecto es uno de los tiempos de la narración y se utiliza para describir situaciones, personas o cosas.
   Por ejemplo…
• Era viernes, Carlitos estaba mirando una película de acción cuando sonó su móvil.
• Ivette era muy guapa, tenía el pelo largo y los ojos verdes
2. Expresa acciones repetitivas en el pasado.
   Por ejemplo…
• Carla iba mucho a la playa cuando era pequeña.
• Hoy Carlitos juega con el ordenador y antes jugaba con sus amigos.

Some uses of the preposition para:

• express the idea of “in my opinion”
• indicate the place toward which someone is going
• convey the time limit of a particular action
• para + infinitive: “in order to” and the expression of purpose
• express suitability

Some uses the preposition por:

• express the reason or motive for an action
• indicate a place where movement is occurring
• periods of time: parts of the day
• por = per
• express price or an exchange
• por + means of transportation
• por = by

Spanish in a real life setting. I also think the conversational nature of the teaching significantly enhanced my communicational skills..

I taught them football and other games for two weeks. I was a volunteer program for an organization called Youth Goodwill. Before going to Peru, I had online Spanish lessons with Habla via Skype. I had twelve hours of class via Skype. When I arrived in Lima had twelve hours more with my teacher. In Lima, my teacher and visited many places during class. We had a lot of fun! I learned a lot of Spanish with Habla Spanish School. Also, I already knew some Spanish from past years, and Habla helped me to improve my vocabulary and conversation in Spanish!

Advanced level

Speaking & listening comprehension: Can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party. Can use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes.

Reading comprehension: Can understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts, and recognise implicit meaning.

Writting & drafting: Can produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organisational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices.
